Bridie Minzenmay is a qualified and attuned psychotherapist offering both in-room and equine-assisted therapy in the Noosa Hinterland. She holds a Master’s Degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy—a relational, holistic approach that focuses on awareness, authenticity, and present-moment experience. Grounded in the belief that healing happens in relationships, Gestalt therapy supports clients to become more aware of themselves, their patterns, and their possibilities for growth and change.
Bridie is also a certified Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) practitioner, trained and accredited through the Equine Psychotherapy Institute. This accreditation ensures a high standard of ethical and trauma-informed practice—something that is not always guaranteed in the growing field of equine therapy, where many facilitators lack formal psychological or therapeutic training. Equine-assisted therapy involves powerful relational work with horses, and having a certified practitioner with a strong foundation in psychotherapy, nature-based awareness, and embodied attunement, makes all the difference in creating a safe, meaningful, and transformative experience.
Bridie’s work is supported by her registration with PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia), ensuring professional accountability, ongoing development, and clinical integrity. Her background also includes extensive experience in youth and disability services, which further supports her inclusive, adaptive, and compassionate approach.
Unlike a psychologist—who typically focuses on assessment, diagnosis, and clinical intervention—Bridie’s work as a psychotherapist is grounded in deep listening, co-regulation, and experiential exploration of what is happening for you in the here and now. If you’re looking for therapy that values who you are as a whole person and honours the healing power of relationship—with yourself, with others, and even with nature—Bridie offers a space where real change can begin.
My love and passion for horses has been there since a young girl. Growing up in the Yarra Valley in my early teen years, I was a dedicated & keen horse rider. I was blessed to share a beautiful & inseparable bond with my equine best friend Joshua, who was one of my major supporters through some difficult years in my life. I was fascinated by the fact that horses, being flight and prey animals, could learn to trust humans who are predators. It was here that I connected with the power of trust and the potential of the healing relationship between humans and horses. Understanding the incredibly sensitive nature that horses have, and the unique personalities they each are blessed with, a seed was planted for the rest of my life.
Horses have eyes positioned on the side of their heads. They can see almost 180 degrees to enable their safety. Their hearing is a superpower and they can hear the rustle of leaves on a bush up to 1km away. They communicate mostly silently so as not to give away their whereabouts to predators in the wild. This evolutionary sense was for their survival, so if a wild dog for example tried to attack, one of the fastest creatures on earth could flee as their lives depended on it. These incredible senses make horses amazing at attunement. They live with an embodied awareness and deal authentically & directly in the moment. This means that horses feel right into a human state of being. Their heartbeat can synchronise with ours. You can't lie to a horse, and a horse won't lie to you or each other. A horse can read a human & communicate clearer than anyone I have ever met. This offer for trust in us, as known predators, is remarkable. There is so much we can learn by being in relationship with a horse. When we become aware of what is happening in our bodies, when our feelings are congruent with our words, and we attune to what feels safe or unsafe for us, there are many opportunities for growth and awareness.
Throughout the years of travel and experiencing life my eyes have been opened to the wonder, magic and diversity in this world and in the human experiences. My passion to embrace the sensitive and therapeutic nature of the relationship between horses and humans has inspired me to continue offering Equine Assisted Psychotherapy support in my business here in QLD Equus Bloom, originally started in Victoria under the name Peninsula Equine Assisted Therapy. There isn't anyone who could not benefit from an equine assisted therapy session. I work from a Gestalt framework, supported by nature.I have many years of experience in disabilities and youth work.
